First Dentist trip

With the kids being 4 and 6 I figured it was about time we visited the dentist. I was not really worried about cavities since my kids LOVE to brush but it never hurts to check.

Julianna was first up…very apprehensive and scared but she did really well. She was very scared about the x-rays. The hygienist was so good with her. She talked her through everything and we got through it. She thought the “vacuum” and teeth cleaning was fun. Here are some pics of her…

100_3046Matthew acted like an old pro in the dentist chair. He could not wait to see his teeth in “pictures”. He counted along with the dentist  when he counted his teeth. No cavities for either of them! YAY!! He sat sooo still and loved having his teeth brushed. He was so proud of himself. And I was so proud of both of them. Matt and I kept switching cubicles so I could take pictures of this momentus day…I know I am evil!

A Century Turns Review

A Century Turns by William J. Bennett takes a look back at recent American History and its key players. It asks you to think about what direction we, as Americans, are heading. The book shares such events such as the 1988 Presidential election, the fall of the Berlin Wall and election of America’s first black president.

About the Author:

William J. Bennett was very active in President George H.W. Bush’s presidency. Mr. Bush made him Drug Czar in 1988. Mr. Bennett has written or edited 18 other books, including The Death of Outrage, Our Sacred Honor, The De-Valuing of America: The Fight for Our Culture and Our Children and the New York Times bestseller America: The Best Last Hope.

Review:

Personally, I loved this book. There was a lot that I never knew about our history that I was excited to read about. It brought back a lot of memories for me with the 1988 election between President George H.W. Bush and Michael Dukakis. It really was good reading and puts a light on has happened with our government and where we are headed.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Thomas Nelson Publishers as part of their BookSneeze.com <http://BookSneeze.com> book review bloggers program. Gym Weeks 1 and 2

Ok….Nothing ever goes exactly as expected. We started with week 1 and went all 3 days and did really well. I started out only doing a mile on the treadmill but gradually worked up to about 2 miles. I have a heart condition so I have to be really careful. I love the weight machines, they do a lot for my shape :)

Week 2 has not been so good. The weather here in Florida has been up and down, 70s one minute and 30s the next. So that means my whole family has been ill. My little boy has been the sickest and he is not getting better so it will be off to the doctor today. Girl Scouts has been really busy with it being cookie time and such. OK…enough excuses. Next week it is back to the old grind stone and I need to weigh in to see if I have made any progress at all.

I hope all of you are making headway in your healthy futures. Next week will be a more detailed post with hopefully good news.

Happy Health!

Who is ready to exercise?

Well it is the most dreaded topic amongst women. I was at baseball with my son tonight and we were talking about a fundraiser and it was getting Tshirts made. We were looking at all the pricing options and I notices the 2XL was more. Well I was not surprised and I made a joke about my weight. HAHA everyone laughed….but that is the way I deal with that horrible problem I have. Until today that is….

I am really going to put all I have in to the gym. My friend and I have joined a fitness challenge at our local YMCA. It is a 10 week challenge and we have to work out 3 days a week for at least an hour. Wow, that is very challenging for me but I am going to give it my all.

I want to challenge all my readers to join me in the quest of health and fitness. I will post all of successes and challenges and at the end of the 10 weeks I hope I have lost at least 30 pounds!

Here is luck to anyone who is going to approach this challenge with me. Happy Health!!

T-Ball here we come

Another new chapter has opened for us. I have embarked on a new journey, being a stay at home mother. With that said, I am able to get my kids in to some extra cirricular activites. My daughter just joined Girl Scouts and is a Daisy.  My son, who is 4, joined T-ball with a local little league. Tonight was his first practice.

Matthew was very excited for the past few days. We went cleat shopping, picked out his mitt and bat bag. He woke me up at 3am wanting to go to baseball practice. I really have never seen him so excited about  something. So off we went this evening to take this new adventure together.

It did not go exactly as expected. Fear overcame my sweet boy and when he was asked to run the bases with everyone else, he got scared and ran off the field. My husband decided to help him through this first practice and Matthew did not let go of Daddy’s hand for at least the first 10 minutes. They ran bases together and Matt stayed by Matthew’s side the whole practice. It was a wonderful bonding experience for them. It was a lot of fun. I want to share a few pictures from the evening.

Rainbow Brite !!!

rainbow

Who remembers Rainbow Brite and her pals? It was one of my favorite cartoons as a child. I was not surprised to see that Rainbow Brite was making a comeback.

It has been 25 years since Rainbow Brite hit the scene with her friends Tickled Pink and Moonglow. I used to have a Rainbow Brite doll and her horse Starlite. I wanted to live in Rainbow land :)

I was able to get a Moonglow doll for my daughter to play with. Sharing something with my daughter that was such a big part of my childhood was very exciting for both of us.   Momselect and the great people at Hallmark are providing me an opportunity to do my VERY FIRST GIVEAWAY!!!!
